Boren Fellowships Available for Study Abroad
The Boren Awards support undergraduate and graduate students with scholarships of up to $30,000 for study abroad in world regions underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. (Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.) The current Boren application cycle will fund study abroad plans that fall between 6/1/2018 – 6/1/2019. UT Boren applicants are strongly encouraged to work through the Office of National Scholarships & Fellowships (ONSF). Find out more about the Boren Awards at ONSF. 2017-2018 Graduate School Fellowships for New Students Awarded
The Graduate School is pleased to announce that the 2017–2018 Graduate School Fellowships for new students have been awarded. This includes the J. Wallace and Katie Dean Graduate Fellowships, the Isobel Griscom Graduate School Fellowship, the Seaton Graduate School Fellowships, the Herman E. Spivey Humanities Graduate Fellowships, the Lori Mayer Women’s Graduate Fellowships, and the Access and Diversity Graduate Fellowships. Find out more about the recipients of these fellowships.
James Madison Graduate Fellowships for Master’s Students
The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation offers $24,000 James Madison Graduate Fellowships to U.S citizens or U.S. nationals desiring to become outstanding teachers of the American Constitution at the secondary school level. These fellowships are awarded to either full-time master’s students wishing to become secondary school teachers of American history, American government, or social studies or part-time master’s students already teaching in these fields.
After receiving the Master’s degree, each Fellow must teach American history, American government, or social studies in grades 7–12 for one full year for each academic year of funding received under a fellowship, preferably in the state from which the recipient won the fellowship. To apply or get more information about this fellowship, visit jamesmadison.gov. The deadline for applications is March 1, 2017.
Anthropology Student Receives Fellowships for Study in Greece
Kaitlyn Stiles, a PhD candidate in Anthropology at UT, recently received two awards that will allow her to extend her time in Greece to conduct her dissertation research. One of these awards is the Olivia James Traveling Fellowship, offered by the Archaeological Institute of America, while the other is a research associate position at the Malcolm H. Wiener Laboratory for Archaeological Science at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Find out more about Stiles’ work in Greece.
