GradVols Orientations 2024 will take place on August 6 and 8.

Graduate Student Orientations

Get a good start to your first semester at UT as a graduate student with our fall orientations.

Orientations 2024

The New Graduate Student Orientation will take place virtually on August 6 from 8:30am–2:30pm. The New Graduate Student Orientation is designed to provide all new graduate students with the information they need to get a good start in their program. This program includes presentations and breakout sessions on financing graduate education and research, student health insurance, the UT Libraries, professional development, and much more.

The New Graduate Teaching Assistant/Associate Orientation is designed to prepare graduate students (most of whom are new to the university) to succeed as an instructor. There are sessions on inclusive teaching processes, library resources for instructors, student conduct, student success, and others. This orientation will take place virtually on August 8, from 8:30am–2:30pm.

New students will be receiving an email with instructions on how to register for these events. Incoming students should keep a close eye on their Vols email to hear about other orientation events as they are scheduled. All of these events are optional, but we hope new students will take advantage of opportunities to meet with units across campus that are ready to help them succeed.
