The Division of Diversity and Engagement is pleased to offer a three-part Graduate and Professional Student Webinar Series this semester. The goals of this series are to enhance resilience among graduate and professional students as they navigate their respective programs, provide a set of practices for demonstrating professionalism in various contexts, and develop skills as they apply for and negotiate job offers.

Being in a graduate program can be challenging during the best of times, much less during a pandemic. Therefore, it is even more critical to find ways to maintain your physical and mental health. The Division of Student Life has announced Wellness Wednesdays for spring 2021. Each Wednesday, experts from the Center for Health Education and Wellness, RecSports, Student Conduct & Community Standards, the Student Health Center, and the Student Counseling Center offer unique and engaging opportunities for you to find the balance that you need to be your best at UT. Visit studentlife.utk.edu/wellness-wednesdays/ for more information and see the attached flyer for the schedule of events.

The Office of Community Engagement and Outreach is hosting their first Community Conversation of the semester, Mental Health and Wellness. Join them Feb. 5 at 10AM, to hear from campus and community experts on current local initiatives and best practices for maintaining mental health during the pandemic. Registration is required.

A new session of Format Chat has been scheduled for February 23 from 9:30–11:00 a.m. to replace the January session that was canceled. Visit the UT Calendar to register for this session.

Are you an instructor or teaching assistant who would like to connect with your UTK colleagues and discuss timely topics related to online and hybrid teaching, learning, and assessment?

If so, grab your lunch and join us on Fridays at noon for the Spring 2021 Brown Bag Lunch series sponsored by Online Learning and Academic Programs. Your UTK colleagues will share their strategies, tips, and recommendations for successful and engaging online teaching and learning. All sessions will be conducted via Zoom.

The Best Practices in Teaching program provides opportunities to discuss teaching-related issues with new and experienced faculty and peers from across the university.

Learning how to communicate your research is invaluable in terms of your professional development and can be an important part of your career as a graduate student and beyond. Join us in this four-week virtual program to develop your written, visual, and spoken communication skills. This program brings together GPSPD partners from the Judith Anderson Herbert Writing Center, the UT Libraries, and the Graduate School to help you as you answer the question “What’s Your Work About?”

Join the Office of Diversity and Engagement for “Introduction to Dialogue Across Difference” on November 23, from noon–1pm on Zoom to learn skills to have more productive dialogue with others.

Will you be teaching a face-to-face or hybrid course next spring for the first time? This Thursday, join instructors who have previously taught in these forms to learn strategies and approaches to create a successful learning experience for your students.
