Teaching Practices for Graduate Students and Faculty

So, you’re a graduate student researcher who engages in amazing research programs at UT. You are an emerging expert in your field of study. And now you’ve been tasked with teaching: are you ready?

The Evolving Practices in Teaching (EPIT) program provides opportunities to discuss teaching-related issues with new and experienced faculty and peers from across the university. This program does not take the place of programs in pedagogy that your department may offer, but it will offer broader discussion of best practices in teaching than any one department or unit can offer and will introduce you to excellent teachers/mentors from across the disciplines.

The program will offer seven sessions in the fall and spring. Fall 2023 starts on August 30 from 5:00p.m. until 6:30p.m. Each registered participant will be required to attend and submit critiques of each session and a teaching portfolio that will be reviewed and returned to the participant for later use.

Registration is now open and will remain open until August 18. Learn more about the schedule of EPIT sessions.

Contact Ernest L. Brothers, Associate Dean of the Graduate School at ebrother@utk.edu with any questions.
