Chinese Embassy Visits UT to Discuss UT-China Collaborations

Last month, members of the Chinese Embassy visited UT to discuss current UT-China collaborations and future possibilities. Following breakfast with Provost Manderscheid, the group met to discuss UT’s graduate student and research areas of interest in the College of Arts & Sciences and the Herbert College of Agriculture. The group then met with graduate students and faculty from the Center for Renewable Carbon. During the afternoon, the group met with faculty from multiple colleges involved in UT-China collaborations, including the dual-funded China-US National Science Foundation efforts led by Frank Loeffler, PhD, a Governor’s chair with appointments in the Department of Microbiology and the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. The day finished with the group meeting students and their faculty mentors involved in the China Scholars Program, and overviews of two study-abroad courses in China led by faculty in the Tickle College of Engineering, Prof. Qiang He and Prof. Mingzhou Jin. Ernest L. Brothers, the Associate Dean of the Graduate School, was in attendance, as well.
