Abby Sherman

Abby Sherman serves as the Assistant Director of Student Support where she brings over a decade of experience in graduate education. In her role, Abby provides comprehensive support to graduate students and faculty. She specializes in student grievances, advising, thesis and dissertation reviews, and the implementation of innovative systems.

Abby is a passionate advocate for access and engagement. She co-chaired the Council for Access & Engagement and served on the Commission for Women. Her efforts have contributed to fostering an inclusive campus culture that supports students, staff, and faculty. 

In addition to her administrative expertise, Abby is an experienced educator who teaches first year studies courses. She also leads workshops on topics such as scholarly publishing, research communication, career planning, and holistic wellness for graduate students.

Abby holds an MS in educational psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a BA in creative writing and literature from Eckerd College. Outside of her professional endeavors, Abby is an avid reader and writer. She is currently working on a fiction novel and pushing the borrowing limits of her library card.
