Fellowship for PhD Students to Conduct Research in France

The Chateaubriand Fellowship is a grant offered by the Embassy of France in the United States to support PhD students from American universities who wish to conduct research in France for 4 to 9 months. The 2018-2019 call for applications is now open, and the deadline for applications is January 16, 2018.

There are two subprograms, one for STEM and Health and one for Humanities and Social Sciences. There are additional fellowships for projects related to Earth System Science, Climate Change and Sustainability, and Energy Transition that are funded through the Make Our Planet Great Again Initiative. This initiative was started by Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, in June 2017 to engage with the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
