Our graduate and professional students are a critical and valued part of the UT community.
Every year, inspired by the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students (NAGPS), the Graduate School works with others in the UT community to set aside a week in spring to show them how much we appreciate them and the work they do. Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week (GPSAW) will be taking place April 5-9, 2021.
Graduate Student Safari
GPSAW will be kicking off with the Graduate Student Safari at the Knoxville Zoo. This is a fun event designed to provide a safe space for students to socialize and network! Zoo capacity is limited due to COVID-19 precautions, so this event is by advance registration only and limited to graduate students and their guests and children as space permits.
Three Minute Thesis
A major event for the week is the UT Three Minute Thesis competition. The exercise challenges masters and doctoral students to present a compelling talk on their research topic and its significance in only three minutes with a single slide. The Graduate School wants the UT community to see our twenty competitors for 2021 at a watch party. Participants will get a chance to see all the presentations, participate in a Q&Q with the presenters, and vote on their favorite in the People’s Choice. The first, second and third place awards will be announced after the presentations.
The UT community is solidifying the rest of the events for the week, and you can find out more about the rest of the schedule as it develops at calendar.utk.edu/gpsaw_events.
This page will continue to be updated throughout the lead up to GPSAW. Help us show how much UT appreciates all of our graduate and professional students!
