To all graduate and professional students:
The spread of the coronavirus has impacted our lives in ways that we could not have imagined a few months ago. Our campus life has been completely upended by our social distancing efforts. For all of us, our personal and professional lives have changed. We are living through a time that challenges us to think and act differently. The lessons we are learning through these trying times will certainly make us stronger once we emerge from this crisis.
Although we are ‘all in this together,’ I know that each of us faces unique challenges. Because some students face financial challenges, the university has created the Student Emergency Fund. All UT students are eligible to apply for help. Additionally, there continue to be resources available to assist students with the mental, emotional and physical challenges brought on by COVID-19. To learn more about how to get help, visit the Health and Wellness links on the UT Coronavirus site.
Like most other UT employees, those of us in the Graduate School are telecommuting during this period of intense social distancing. However, we are still available to assist students with their needs. We have a section of our website with information on how the Graduate School is adjusting to the pandemic. You will find information here about a variety of topics including grading policies and deadline extensions. A more comprehensive coverage of the university’s response to the coronavirus pandemic can be found at www.utk.edu/coronavirus/.
Those of us who work in the Graduate School want you to know that we are here to help you. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us at email@example.com.
