Workshop on Instructor Presence in Online Classes

Creating and maintaining your presence in the online classroom can be challenging, especially in an asynchronous online class with a large number of students. Creating that presence is important, though, for student learning. Typically, students do better when they feel connected to the instructor and know they aren’t being taught by a bot.

On Friday, November 11, from noon to 1pm, the Office of Online Learning and Academic Programs will host the workshop, “Strategies for Creating a Strong Instructor Presence in Asynchronous Classes.” In this workshop, participants will talk about different types of instructor presence in online classes and ways to create that presence without overtaxing yourself.
