Graduate Hooding Ceremony Featured Soloist Joel Brown

Our featured soloist for the Spring 2022 Graduate Hooding Ceremony is Joel Brown. Joel is a second year graduate student in Voice Performance at the UT School of Music. A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, he has made multiple appearances as a singer in the Knoxville community. Joel’s most recent credits include Eisenstein in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Papageno in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and as the baritone soloist in Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem. While at UTK he has also performed with Knoxville Opera, including singing downtown on First Fridays, with the chorus in their production of Arrigo Boito’s Mefistofele, on their “Puccini at the Cathedral” concert, and most recently as a soloist at the Rossini Festival. While at the University of Tennessee, he has studied voice with Andrew Wentzel and Kevin Burdette.

Join us at the hooding ceremony to hear Joel’s performance and to listen to our featured speaker, Devon Carroll, address all the graduates for spring 2022.
