PhD Student Develops Greener, Faster-Drying Concrete

Debelina GhoshDebelina Ghosh, a doctoral student in civil engineering at UT, wishes to work towards reducing the carbon footprint of concrete, the most widely used man-made material on the planet, and the second most used material in the world after water. Ghosh, who studies under Professor John Ma, teamed up with researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and in collaboration with the Precast-Prestressed Concrete Institute to develop her formula for a faster-drying concrete that emits 62% less carbon than the industry standard.
