The Writing Center, located in HSS 212, offers free individualized help to undergraduates developing coursework-related written assignments in any discipline. Although they are currently funded to assist undergraduates, they will try to help graduate students, if time permits. They can answer brief questions and review short portions of drafts.

They cannot work with graduate students on theses or dissertations, but they can help you connect with a fee-based freelance editor outside of the Writing Center. For information on finding a freelance editor, you can drop by the Writing Center for a request form. They can’t guarantee that they can find a freelance editor, but they’ll do their best.

If your first language is not English, you may get help from the ESL Writing Center, which is located in Hodges Library 220G. A schedule of hours and a link to make appointments can be found at utk.mywconline.com.
