The Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) will be hosting its 2017 conference in Salt Lake City, UT from October 19-21. This is the largest diversity in STEM conference in the United States, and the organizers are planning “three days of cutting-edge science, training, mentoring, and cultural activities for scientists at all levels and disciplines.”
Why are we bringing it up now, when it’s not until October? If you are a graduate student and would like to attend, but the idea of the cost of travel to Utah seems daunting, SACNAS offers travel scholarships on a competitive basis, and applications will be open from March 14–April 14. SACNAS also provides an opportunity to present your research either as a poster presentation or as an oral presentation. If you’d like to do that, spring applications will go from March 14–April 28. The SACNAS conference has many other opportunities, so if you’re interested, take a look around their site.
