- I plan to move to Knoxville soon. Where can I get information on the area?
Knoxapts.com is a housing/apartment resource for Knoxville and the surrounding area. You may also find facts and links about the area such as voter registration, driver's license, schools, libraries, taxes, transportion, utilities, and post office locations. The University of Tennessee also has a collection of Knoxville-area links and other information.

- Graduate Fellowships and other funding sources
- Database search engine called Fast Web, for undergraduate and graduate students.
- US News has a whole section on education, colleges, and financial aid resources including a free database search engine.
- American Association for University Women is an award, fellowship, and funding resource for women.

Yes! Online maps are available, and printed maps are available at Parking Services in the University Center.

The academic calendar is located on the registrar's website.

- I need to Add/Drop a class and it is past the deadline. What forms do I need?
Fill out both forms, making sure to have the correct course and section number, and that you state a change justification on the Late Change Request. When complete, return both forms to our office.

- I need a certain graduate student form. Where can I find it?

- Where do I find my deadline dates?
Deadline dates are available online or in the Graduate School office. Remember that these dates are the absolute deadlines. The meeting with the Thesis / Dissertation consultant should be scheduled mid-way through the semester in order to make sure you have enough time for all the revisions and consequent meetings.

- I need to talk to the Thesis / Dissertation Consultant. Do I need an appointment?
It is a good idea to make appointments with the Thesis/ Dissertation Consultant at least a month before your deadline date. Come into the office, or email the Thesis/Dissertation Consultant for an appointment. There is a period lasting 1–2 weeks before the submission deadline date where appointments are not available. Meetings are given on a first-come, first-serve basis during this time.

- How do I go about taking a Leave of Absence?
Graduate students may take a "Leave of Absence" for no longer than a year. This means that the student will not be taking classes. To request a Leave of Absence, the student's major advisor must write a letter to The Graduate School, Attn: Dr. Kay Reed. The letter should include the student's name, student ID number, the length of absence, and the reason for the request.
