New Graduate Teaching Assistants/Associates Orientation 2008
The New GTA Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 from 8 a.m. until noon in the University Center (U.C.). Registration and check-in will be available outside the Tennessee Auditorium from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. After checking in, students may enjoy a continental breakfast served from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. in Suite 225. Representatives from university service offices will distribute information at tables in Suite 225 during the breakfast. The program will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. in the Tennessee Auditorium. The program will include a welcome from Dr. Carolyn Hodges (Dean of the Graduate School), information about UT undergraduate students, resources for the classroom, resources for when things go wrong, and a panel presentation by experienced GTAs.
A full orientation schedule will be available online prior to the event.
Participants may find parking for the New GTA Orientation in several places near the University Center. A paid parking garage is located directly next to the U.C. on Phillip Fulmer Way. Temporary parking permits for nearby lots may be available through Parking and Transit Services. Additionally, metered and non-metered parking may be found along nearby streets. The University Center is located on Cumberland Ave. and is easily accessible via Knoxville Area Transit (KAT).
