The Faculty Senate is searching for a new Graduate Research Assistant, with work to begin on August 1, 2016. A qualified applicant should possess strong research and writing skills, an ability to synthesize information and draft reports, and the capacity to communicate effectively with both campus faculty and administrators. John Akins (PhD, Political Science) and Jonathan Barsness (PhD, Political Science) are among four students receiving a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship. Akins will spend time in Lucknow, India, studying Urdu, and Barsness will be in Ibri, Oman, studying Arabic. Read more about the CLS program and these recipients.
Dana Harrison will receive her DSW from UT on Thursday. Her work has centered around death row inmates and their families, with a capstone project about the effects of grief on family members of executed death row inmates. Read more about Dana and her incredible work.
Tennessee Today published articles about two of our graduate students on Tuesday, May 10. Melissa Farquharson is graduating on May 12th with a master's degree in sport management, and her journey to this point is an inspiring one. Joy Buongiorno, a graduate research assistant in microbiology, aided the UT Police Department in the recovery of more than $100,000 in property stolen from campus buildings.
