MPH Student’s Animal Therapy Research Seeks to Improve Lives of Soldiers

Major Taylor Opel is pursuing a veterinary master’s in public health (MPH) at UT, which is one of the few schools in the country that offers the degree. She is studying how animal interaction can have a “direct influence on human physiology in a way that can positively change their medical care”. She believes that this research can “support the inclusion of animal therapy programs in treating solders for PTSD and other illnesses.” Read more about Maj. Opel and her work in Volunteers Make a Difference.
